Dear GMS Families, This past Wednesday we had a day off to recognize and celebrate the service and sacrifice of our veterans. A special thank you goes out to all those in our community who have served. Next year during the month of November we would like to create a "Wall of Heroes". This will be a wall of pictures of those close to or related to us who have served. We will be asking for pictures of these veterans to hang on the wall. We mention this now so that you have a year to find any picture you may be able to provide for this wall. Our hope is through this process we may recognize current and former veterans dating back as far as we are able to go, as well as recognize all the branches of our military. We hope that this will be a successful tribute and that a year is enough time to gather these photos. If you come across them sooner rather than later, please feel free to send them in. Please indicate the name of the Veteran, branch of service, time of service, and relation to GMS. If you are not comfortable giving us the photo you can email to Mr. Mitchell or send it in for us to make a color copy of. The specialists would like to remind all students and families to please go in and accept the invitation to their Google Classrooms. Regardless of whether you have the special right now or not, it is necessary that all students are enrolled in these Google Classrooms in order for the information to be sent out in an orderly and timely manner. Thank you for your attention to this. Next week is a full five day week, something we have not had in a little bit. Don't worry though, the following week is only 2 days. Rest up, prepare, and enjoy your well earned weekend.

Repeated News and Announcements Absence Reporting Email The GMS office now has a dedicated email address to use to report your child tardy or absent: GMSabsences@litchfieldsd.org. You can also find it on the Griffin Memorial School homepage, on the top, left side under “ABSENCES”. When you send an email please include the following information: *Child’s first and last name *Teacher *Reason for absence If you would prefer to leave a voicemail message when your child is absent or tardy you are still welcome to call 424-5931 and then hit “6” when you hear the automated message. Please remember to include the above information in the voice message. Please note that when you email or leave a voice message saying that your child “will be out” then the absence is recorded as unexcused. Please tell us the reason for the absence so it is documented correctly. Don't forget to join the GMS SEL classroom with Mrs. Hayes and Ms. Poli. All students must do this regardless if you have had music already, are currently having music, or haven't yet had your music block. End 68 Hours of Hunger Litchfield Schools are pleased to inform you about a free, confidential food program which provides students with meals from Friday after school until they return on Monday morning. The program is sponsored by “End 68 Hours of Hunger,” a local, private food program whose mission is to help families feed their children over the weekends. If meeting the weekend nutritional needs of your child is challenging at this time, we would like to help meet that need. All food is non-perishable as well as easy to prepare and we do our best to accommodate food allergies when necessary. Guaranteeing your child’s confidential participation in the program is also a top priority.
