Griffin Memorial School News
February 25, 2022
GMS Families,
I don't think anyone was complaining with the announcement of an extra day of vacation. We were pleased that we had the chance to wish all of the students a great and restful vacation. Everyone has been working so hard, and the stretch from the Holiday break to February vacation is always the longest. This vacation is certainly well earned and deserved by everyone. We hope that this break provides the rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation needed for our next stretch of school that will bring with it the onset of Spring warmth.
When we return next week, we will be celebrating Read Across America Week. Mrs. Prevel-Trumel and her committee have planned a week of special events to recognize this week. More information can be found below about how your child will celebrate this in school and how you may extend this celebration at home.
On March 24th, our fourth grade families are invited to learn more about the Litchfield Middle School experience at an information night from 6:00 t0 7:00 pm.
We wish you all a restful, relaxing, and joyful Winter Vacation. We will see you all again in March.

Maura Clinton-Jones, Assistant Principal

End 68 Hours of Hunger

End 68 Hours of Hunger and Litchfield Schools are pleased to inform you about a free, confidential food program which provides students with meals from Friday after school until they return to school on Monday morning.  If meeting the weekend nutritional needs of your child is challenging at this time, we would like to help meet that need.  All food is non-perishable and easy to prepare.  If your child has any food allergies, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate this need.  Nut products are included for those who are not allergic, but children are informed that they are not to open the bags until a parent can review the contents.  The bags are delivered to schools and students will take the bags home with them on the bus or at parent pick-up.  If you would like to pick up the bags yourself, arrangements can be made for pick up at the front office.

If you are interested in joining the program or learning more, please contact Elin Pelland, School Social Worker, at 424-2133 x 2215 or at epelland@litchfieldsd.org.
